CAREER HISTORY

Self Employed

I have been self employed and involved in a variety of different projects.

I am a global ambassador for GAC logistics, an ambassador for Victor Chandler, a director of Sports Bar Casino powered by Jennings Bet, a patron of the Basil Skyers Melanoma foundation and I am a shareholder in two sports events companies.

I am also employed by the FA to sit on judicial panels and I have travelled worldwide representing the FA.

In addition I often present on MUTV and I carry out personal appearances such as playing at Masters Tournaments.

Middlesborough Football Club – Assistant Manager

I assisted in the buying and selling of players, coaching team selection and the general running of this premiership football club.

Whilst working at Middlesborough we twice achieved promotion to the Premiership in 1995 and 1998.

In 1997 we guided Middlesborough to both the FA Cup final and the Coca Cola Cup final.
In 1998 we again reached the final of the Coca Cola Cup.

Having managed Middlesborough football club for seven years Bryan Robson an I were the second longest serving management team in the Premiership.

Barnsley Football Club – Player Manager

Whilst managing this first division team I had the sole responsibility for the running of all aspects of Barnsley Football Club.

During this year I gained valuable management experience which I have developed further in my continuing career.in the Premiership.

Sheffield Wednesday Football Club – Player/Captain

In 1991 we gained promotion to the first division.

In 1993 I was captain of the team for both the League Cup final and the FA Cup final.

In my last season for Sheffield Wednesday I played several European Cup matches for the club.

Manchester United Football Club – Football Player

I was Sir Alex Ferguson’s first signing for Manchester United.

During my first season the team were runners up in the First Division.

In 1990 whilst representing Manchester United, the club won the FA Cup final.

Arsenal Football Club – Football Player

Whilst playing for Arsenal Football Club I was a regular first team player, only missing a total of three games in three seasons.

In 1997 I played for Arsenal when we won the League Cup final.

Nottingham Forest Football Club – Football Player

I began my professional career appearing for the first team aged 17 years old.
Whilst playing for Nottingham Forest we won the League Championship 1977.

In both 1978 and 1979 we won the League Cup.

In 1980 Nottingham Forest won the European Cup, allowing me valuable experience playing within Europe.

Football Association – Football Player

In 1979 I became the first black player to represent England in a Full International match.
I was a member of the England squad in two World Cups and two European Championships.

In total I have received thirty England Caps during my playing career.

Personal Achievements

My highest personal achievement was being awarded the MBE by the Queen for services to football in the Millennium honours list. I am currently a patron for the Youth Against Racism and I have regularly been involved in charitable events throughout my career.

Individual Qualities

During my career I have helped to manage football clubs at both the Premiership and First Division levels. I feel my varied experiences as a player have prepared me for this role and with almost tens years experience in management I am eager to move on to my next challenge.
